#Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2436B002)# Best Cheap Discount Sale Reviews

I’ve had this all-in-one printer for a couple of years now. A smaller, earlier version Pixma would have been fine for my needs, but this unit was earning better ratings than its smaller preprocessors, at least when it first came out. I’ve had no major problems.

It IS a large, bulky all-in-one and will sometimes make my desk shake a little when it is printing. I primarily use to print documents in black and white. The option to print in “fast” and “gray scale” modes seems to extend the life of ink cartridges. Duplex printing is a great option, to save on paper, but this definitely slows down printing process.

I just started using after-market ink cartridges and they seem to be working fine, while saving me $ over Canon cartridges. Although it can stop printing when a cartridge runs out, I’ve found it will often continue printing long after it has started giving warnings that a cartridge(s) is low or has run out. Knowing this can save on buying cartridges. I make sure I have replacement cartridges on hand for when one does expire.

I’ve not done much printing of photos, so can’t comment on this. Sometimes does not print to the correct tray and fax is temperamental/hit or miss, although I rarely fax anything. Infrequently jams but is usually easy to fix.
Would buy again.

It does everything that it’s supposed to well.
Almost one year later and I still have not experienced any problems.

Great … Until Warranty Expires – John Galt – California USA
The Canon MX850 was a very good printer for about a year. The color match was very close to subject. The printing time was often delayed due to printer resets but, other than that, it was quite functional. The customer service was very good during warranty. Once the warranty expired I started to consistently get Error Code 5100. The troubleshooting in the manual for this error was not specific enough so I went online. I tried all of their fixes, but nothing has solved the problem. The printer is only about a year old and is virtually dead. I have a lot of ink cartridges but the new models don’t accept them. So, I am forced to buy another printer with all new ink cartridges. I’ve learned my lesson… I WON’T BUY A CANON!!

Canon somewhat dropped the ball on this one – f_train – US
After years of having a Canon Pixma IP3000 (very basic printer with no features to speak of), I needed a machine that could handle some light office work so I chose the MX850 because I love Canon products. I will say that I am disappointed in it. The amount of ink this puppy drains is ridiculous! Even when I choose the lowest quality of printing, it still seems to use more ink than my previous Canon printer. It’s also ridiculously loud and slow for such a big machine. The scanning quality isn’t as good as it could be, but I shouldn’t expect much considering it was only a little over 0 for the unit. It’s definitely not the work horse I thought it would be. It’s great for a family with kids that need to print or copy things, fax something or scan a document. But definitely steer clear of this if you want it for heavy duty office use where you’ll use it every single day, because this machine will suck your wallet dry with the amount of money you’ll have to spend on ink. If you want a “light use” printer, this is it. If you want sharp/clear, crisp photo quality pictures, this is definitely NOT the machine to get. This is for run of the mill homework and document use – nothing fancy.
