Broke after less than 4 months – Michael – Kirkland, WA USA
I used this scale about twice a week for four months to measure ingredients weighing less than 2 pounds. It looks nice and is lightweight. However, I had two major problems with it.
First, the auto-off feature is designed to conserve battery power, but is poorly thought-out. Sometimes the scale would shut itself off in the middle of a measurement!
More seriously, after about 3 months the scale started to behave erratically (displaying random numbers for a few seconds before settling back to the previously displayed value), and finally after less than four months it’s dead, displaying just EEEE. Unfortunately, I’ve missed the Amazon return window, so I’ll contact the manufacturer with its supposed 5-year warranty. However, I don’t have high hopes for the outcome.

Weight varies depending on where you place the object being weighed. One never knows if the correct weight is being shown due to this placement issue.
Tare function not functional enough – Scott – Portland, OR
I’ve been doing some testing since getting this scale and have had very inconsistent results. I finally figured out that the tare function doesn’t work if you zero out the weight for your container, but then remove it to fill before returning it to the scale.
It also seems to make a difference where on the scale surface you place things. That pretty much means you always need to use a bowl or plate on top of the unit.
It is very small and easy to store, which is why I’m probably going to keep it, warts and all.

#Calphalon One Infused Anodized 3-Quart Sauté Pan with Lid# Best Cheap Discount Sale Reviews
I must have gotten my first Calphalon anodized aluminum cookware (Commercial Aluminum Cookware Company, Toledo, OH) from the commercial restaurant suppliers on the Bowery in NYC 30 years ago. This is the best professional pan for searing meat or vegetables quickly and without getting the product soggy or overcooked. I translate all the old-fashion oven recipes (Greek, Czech, German, etc etc) into a Japanese style quick sear for the meat, then removing the meat, slowly cooking the more fragile ingredients and sauce making, replacing meat later for controlled simmering.
Fast searing, slow simmering–no better pan in the world for convenient one-pot cooking–asian style, sort of. Calphalon anodized aluminum is almost intelligent–the best cookware material. And I have used them all, full copper, stainless-clad copper and aluminum, and iron. My old 3-quart saute pan is so precious to me, I’m buying a new one, just to have in my kitchen.

Workhorse of my kitchen! – geekyhokie – Suffolk, VA
After trying many of the cheap saute pan options, I forked up for this one and have not been disappointed. Responding to the one negative comment: no it’s not perfectly flat on the bottom – but I have a glass cooktop, and no pan that I’ve used is perfectly flat. A slight unevenness may be noticeable, but it doesn’t affect cooking for me. Because this pan is nice and heavy (not cast-iron heavy though), it distributes heat evenly. And if it works on a flat glass cooktop, it will work anywhere. Food browns nicely, and the surface deglazes very well. I use this pan at least 5 days a week, and take care of it according to the directions (soap + scouring pad only) and it hasn’t worn too bad at all, and I expect many more years out of it. My only concern is that I want to use it for everything and I might wear it out faster than I expect!

I am very happy with this pan. The one thing I don’t like about it is its weight–I really do need to use the handle in order to lift it (even when the pan is empty, if I’m not holding it at the right angle).

I received this saute pan for Xmas. I have other Caphalon (no-stick) pans and was delighted, based on claimed attributes of their top-of-line pan. However, my pan did not have a flat bottom which is a problem on an electric range. I returned to Caphalon and hav’nt heard a thing. I tired to claim lost but ups has proof of delivery – I would like to get a known reliable brand. I dislike poor products, am extremly disappointed with the service and total inconvience of the warranty program.

Pinzon Penguin Wine Opener Gift SetWe had our first Penguin purchased from a local wine merchant for for over a year and it worked great! One day, it froze completely. My husband was confounded and took the entire thing apart to try and fix it, to no avail. When I saw them advertised on Amazon.com for .99, I quickly ordered another one. A mere two months later, it locked completely. I am hoping I can return it without a problem. I really love that thing when it works! I would rather pay more for one that holds up.

#Le Creuset Stoneware Petite Pumpkin Casserole, Flame# Best Cheap Discount Sale Reviews
Why? Because it is very small. And, it’s not made of Le Creuset cast iron, but of Le Creuset stoneware — a big difference.
That said, it’s very cute and a great little pot — I use a fleet of these to make little pumpkin breads. They’re also good for pumpkin pudding (otherwise known as pumpkin pie without the crust….)
On all the little Le Creuset “petites” you need to know that the capacity is highly overstated. If it says 12 ounces, assume 10. If it says 10 ounces, assume 8. And, if like some of the fruit shapes they give you 5″ x5″ dimensions, just know that they’re including handles and lid-knobs and the volume is probably under 8 ounces. This is okay for single servings of desert, but that’s about it.
I think Le Creuset had an identity crisis about the time they started making this little “petite” line because the first ones were all really made of cast iron like the larger versions — but then the second wave has been pottery except for the occasional slip baqck into cast iron. Being consistant is just too much trouble for them, I suppose.

This is a splurge item of course! I can’t say that it serves any magical purpose like the french oven, but it looks adorable on my countertop and is a great addition to a growing collection of LC. is made in Thailand, not France as you would expect from a Le Creuset item. In the product description, it says, “Festive and fun. Welcome fall with the addition of these petite pumpkin casseroles to your set. Serve up individual servings of pumpkin soup or fill it with cinnamon for an added spice of life. Superior CAST IRON construction retains and distributes heat quickly and evenly. Limited lifetime warranty.” This product is part of the Le Creuset stoneware line and IS NOT cast iron. The lid is not at all tight fitting, either. This casserole is very small. I know 12 oz isn’t much, but I did think it would be big enough to hold at least enough food for an individual casserole serving. As a (very) proud owner of 16 pieces of Le Creuset, it saddens me to have to give this only 3 stars, but I had to deduct because of the poor fitting lid, it being made in Thailand, the incorrect product discription and the size. On the plus side, it is very cute!
